“Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.
For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.
2 Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth,
but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you.
Yesterday morning the Reverend Billy Graham left his earthly home and is now in the presence of His Lord and Savior. You do not have to look far to find tributes to this man of God, who arose and shined a light that could have only come God.
He has left quite a legacy behind him and I know that Reverend Graham heard these words when he met Jesus, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
I believe it is quite fitting that we are reading Isaiah 60 today on my 60th birthday. I promise that this was not planned…the thought actually just occurred to me as I was typing these words! Definitely, a God wink moment! I need to focus on displaying the characteristics of a woman of God, and be a reflection of Jesus light to those around me through following the wisdom found in Colossians 3.
12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
I do not aspire to be an evangelist to millions, nor has God equipped me to be that person. I do want to be a light that shines the light of Jesus to those in my little world. I do not wish for Presidents, or dignitaries or celebrities or religious leaders to share how they were changed or came to the Lord because of words I spoke. I do want my husband, my children, my grandchildren, my family and my friends to share that I was a woman who did, “Arise and shine for Jesus!”
