WOBS ~ Tuesday Reflection

As I sat this morning reading the Tuesday assignment in my book, I was stumped about how to reflect upon the direction our authors were taking in this study.  They were giving a history lesson on the vessel that Jael used to give Sisera a drink of milk.

The link below discusses the problems with wineskins…

I more I thought about these wineskin bottles the more I felt that my focus needed to be on this verse that was referenced, both in the Tuesday reading and in the link above.

17 “Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17

As I shared with you all yesterday, I am working on living healthier and it all starts with a new attitude.  I am not going to succeed in this commitment I have made if I continue living in the “old” mindset of the past 2 years.  I need to look at my body and my health in a “new” way, it is the only way I am going to “preserve” this body I have.

I need to remember that this body I have been given is not just mine, it is houses a gift from God and was bought with a very high price.

19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

I am no longer living as a slave to myself and my next food craving.  I need to give control of the foods I put into my mouth back to God.  I know this works, He got me through this once before and I know He will get me through it this time.  I just need to get a new attitude and allow God to do a work in me.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
