Saturday Focus ~ On Lot’s Wife

You are my home

I was listening to Pandora last night as I went to sleep and really listened to the words of a song by Colton Dixon, maybe for the very first time, despite having heard it many times before. It was like God was reminding me of the story of Lot’s wife and how He was not where her heart went as she left Sodom. She did not run into His arms…her heart was running back to what she had just left.  I need to focus on where my heart is, because I do not want to be like Lot’s wife.  There are some great questions, in this song, that I am going to meditate on today…

Where does my heart go when I have a choice to make?

Whom do I follow when my character is at stake?

Will I run from God or will I run to God?

Will I fight to be right where God wants me to be?

Or will I turn back to what He has asked me to leave behind?

“Where My Heart Goes” Colton Dixon

Where does my heart go
When I have a choice to make?
Who do I follow
When my character’s at stake?
Will I run from You or to Your arms?
Will I fight to be right where You are?
‘Cause life is pulling me a million different ways

This is my song that I sing forever
You are my home, You are what I treasure
I want You to be where my heart goes
And if it all breaks
If it goes to pieces
You are the one that I will believe in
I know You won’t ever let me go
(You won’t let me go)
I want You to be where my heart goes

There’s no denying
What this world will promise me
But I have decided
You are the only thing I need
So take everything
Take everything
Take everything

This is my song that I sing forever
You are my home, You are what I treasure
I want You to be where my heart goes
And if it all breaks
If it goes to pieces
You are the one that I will believe in
I know You won’t ever let me go
(You won’t let me go)
I want You to be where my heart

Runs to, clings to
Jesus, I so need You
I want You to be where my heart goes

This is my song that I sing forever
You are my home, You are what I treasure
I want You to be where my heart goes
(Where my heart goes)
And if it all breaks
If it goes to pieces
You are the one that I will believe in
I know You won’t ever let me go
(You won’t let me go)
I want You to be where my heart goes
I want You to be where my heart goes

  1. Excellent questions!!! I will be asking my small group to think about those questions since we are doing ‘not a fan’. Loved the song too. I probably would never have paid any attention to the song or the artist…
