There are times when I find myself rushing through my day and instead of focusing on what is right in front of me…like stepping up onto a curb…that I get tripped on that next step and I am sent sprawling on the sidewalk at Wal-mart. Yes, that really did happen to me last spring!
Or like this week. I know that I need to get more rest than I have been getting. I actually posted that I was going to focus on more rest and I did for a few days and then went right back to my old ways. Well, I got knocked down, again, this very week…by a nasty cold. Trust me I have been getting my rest over the last several days.
Both of these things happened to me because I was focused on something that I needed to see or needed to do that was more important to me than the next step I needed to take. All of this leads me to what I am going to be doing next in my desire to stay focused on the Bible and to challenge all of us to stay in God’s word.
I have committed to sharing “Women of the Bible: A One-Year Devotional Study of Women in Scripture” by Ann Spangler and Jean E. Syswerda, on Mondays, with all of you over the next 52 weeks. I was getting these devotions emailed to me each week through Biblegateway and I have really been enjoying the insight provided by the authors, so I decided to get the book through amazon for my Kindle. I have found that there is something to do or read each day of the week Monday ~ Friday, for 52 weeks.
I intend to fulfill my commitment to God to read and study this book over the next 52 weeks and I intend to fulfill my commitment to each of you to share the woman highlighted each week, with you. I am only sure of how that is going to look for the first 4 weeks, after that it will depend on several different scenarios. It will depend upon whether or not you purchase the book, to read along with me or if we rely on the emails I receive each Monday from Biblegateway.
I am going to share several links with you about this book below. The first one is a sample of the book, which includes the first 4 weeks of our study. We will be looking at Eve, Sarah, Hagar and Lot’s wife, using this link for the beginning of this study.
The next link is to the book on Amazon for Kindle…
And finally here is a link to purchase the ebook version through Google Play…
I realize that this is a huge commitment on all of our parts. Let’s see how the first four weeks go and we can decide how we want to go forward from there. I think we can all agree that our next step is going to be tomorrow, when we read about Eve at the first link above. Yep, we are not going to get tripped up on what could be happening in the future or how long 52 weeks really is…just going to take that next step…together. Ready…
