Focus ~ On Wisdom

This morning I decided to go back and read through Proverbs 1 ~ 15 once again, and see which verses jumped out at me from each chapter.  I think it is always good to review the material while it is still fresh in your mind.

23 Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise. Proverbs 1:23

Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

5 Get wisdom; develop good judgment.
Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.
6 Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.
Love her, and she will guard you.
7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
8 If you prize wisdom, she will make you great.
Embrace her, and she will honor you. Proverbs 4:5-8

20 My son, obey your father’s commands,
and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
21 Keep their words always in your heart.
    Tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, their counsel will lead you.
When you sleep, they will protect you.
When you wake up, they will advise you.
23 For their command is a lamp
    and their instruction a light;
their corrective discipline
is the way to life. Proverbs 6:20-23

I believe it is very important to God for us to gain wisdom!!!  So I am going to be focusing on God’s wisdom as I go through my day today.  I pray that this review of the first 15 chapters of Proverbs inspires you to get out your Bible and seek His wisdom too.

  1. This year I’m taking a “wisdom challenge.” I’m reading one chapter of the Proverbs every day. That means I will read the book 12 times this year. I feel I can’t get enough of God’s wisdom. Thanks for sharing the verses that popped out at you. They mean a lot to me too.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
