Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 59 & 60

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 59 _60

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading.  You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read Hebrews 9 ~ 13 and as you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

  • What is the main point of this portion?
  • What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?
  • What insight am I given about myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?
  • What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on today’s assignment…

25  “Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! 26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29 For our God is a devouring fire.” Hebrews 12:25-29

Only unshakable things will remain!  I have been missing the mark on being unshakable lately.  There is one area in my life were I can become unsettled and I know that I have some work to do with this part of my walk.

As a person of faith, who is presently reading the Bible and seeking God for His wisdom daily…you would think that I would be in a better place to stand firm on His word.  The very center of my being has to be rooted in the truths that I am reading each day and then I can stand firm and unshakable in the strength that comes from God!

When I allow the center of my being to be knocked off kilter by people or circumstances, those are the times that I am trying to work things out on my own…in my own power.  God has given me the gift of a holy emissary to help each and every day…I need to humble myself and tap into what Jesus death, resurrection and ascension into heaven granted for me, as a believer in His sacrifice.

6 “So we can say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”

7 Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.” Hebrews 13:6-9

I need to write these words on my heart…engrave them into my mind and remember to count on them in my daily walk with God.  It might even be a God idea to print out Hebrews 11 onto a piece of paper and place it on the mirror in my room…so I can read it each day as a reminder of what “Great Faith” looks like.

Dear Lord, I don’t get it right as much as I would like.  You know me and You know the area where I fall down the most.  I want to release!  I want to let go!  I want to give it all to You!  I want to admit that I can’t do this on my own or in my own strength!  Help me, Lord!!  Be my strength and help me to do what needs to be done!  I asked these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus…Amen!

Holy Spirit have Your Way by Leeland

“Holy Spirit Have Your Way”

Long after the tears fall I’m still your child
I put down my defenses and lay down my pride
Love and forgiveness flow in deep and wide
So I run to you and surrender all!As I lay down my life
And pick up my cross
What a joy it is to give my life away to you
All that I need,
All that I seek
Is You here with me
Holy Spirit have Your way in me!In times of trouble, though trials may come
The rock of ages is standing strong
I’m fighting battles, but the war is won
So I’ll run to you and surrender all

As I lay down my life
And pick up my cross
What a joy it is to give my life away to you
All that I need,
All that I seek
Is You here with me
Holy Spirit have Your way in me! of You and less of me, God
More of You and less of me, God
More of You and less of me, God
More of You overflowingAs I lay down my life
And pick up my cross
What a joy it is to give my life away to you
All that I need,
All that I seek
Is You here with me
Holy Spirit have Your way in me!
Holy Spirit have Your way in me!

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
