Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 49

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 49

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading.  You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

https://heisourstrongtower.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/many-strands-challenge-seeking-gods-wisdom-for-2014/

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read Galatians 5 – 6 and as you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

  • What is the main point of this portion?
  • What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?
  • What insight am I given about myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?
  • What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on today’s assignment…

14 As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. 15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. 16 May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. Galatians 6:14 – 16

As I was working on the assignment for today, I had my television on.  I was going between contemplating what to write about and watching an episode of “Little House on the Prairie.  The episode I was watching was the second of two, called “Days of Sunshine, Days of Shadow”, during this episode a tornado destroys the home where Laura and Almanzo live.

In one of the scenes, Almanzo and his father-in-law, Charles, go to see the ruined home and in the midst of all the destruction, Almanzo sees a geranium growing.  Despite all that was going wrong in his life, seeing that new creation growing out of the ground gave him hope for a better future.

This is the way God works in our lives.  In the midst of our sin and in the destruction of our lives, He plants a seed that gives us hope for a better future.  And the one thing that I have to remember is that the new creation I am working on becoming is all the more beautiful because of Who died to set me free.

When I consider the beauty of what He has created out of the ugly in my life…I just have to boast about Him!!  My God is so great and He is so very amazing, I praise Him for all things that have happened in my life.  Only God can bring beauty from destruction.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
