Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 48

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 48

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading.  You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

https://heisourstrongtower.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/many-strands-challenge-seeking-gods-wisdom-for-2014/

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read Galatians 3 – 4 and as you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

  • What is the main point of this portion?
  • What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?
  • What insight am I given about myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?
  • What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on Galatians 1 – 4….

4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. Galatians 4:4-7

Yesterday evening I shared with that I felt the need to concentrate on Galatians 2:17-21 during my quiet time this morning.  And as I read these verses again this morning and then read through Galatians 3 – 4…I was, once again, humbled by what I was reading.

There is a misconception within this world that a life dedicated to God means you give up your freedom.  People believe that there is no freedom through living a life dedicated to God.   I was never more bound by rules and regulations than when I was centered on my problems.  I lived in slavery to my problems, solely focused on myself and my needs.

I lived in a torture chamber of my own making and I was ruled and regulated by the thoughts in my own head.  My mind was wrapped in chains and I was locked in a daily struggle to break free.  Each of my bindings had its own name: fear, anxiety, stress, worthless, ugly, stupid, irrational, emotional, argumentative, terrible wife, terrible mother…etc. etc. etc.  In a state of complete and total bondage to my circumstances, Jesus met me and set me free.

At my lowest point…Jesus brought me victory and raised me up to where He always wanted me to be.  He broke every chain that was keeping me prisoner to what I thought was wrong with my life…He set me free and it is true…”Who the Son sets free is free indeed.”  John 8:36

Jesus is the only way to receive true freedom in this world.  I wanted to be free from all those thoughts that were consuming me and so I ran to Jesus.  Together, we nailed my chains to the cross and He set me free.  I am now bound by Jesus and there is no greater freedom than what I have found through Him.

Because of Jesus, God is my Abba Father and I am His child!

Dear Lord, Some people are in bondage to fear, to sin, to other people, or to their circumstances.  I am so glad that through You we are assured deliverance and that You free us from all kinds of chains: be they physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. Thank You for setting us free from the pain and suffering and for allowing us to walk in freedom with You.  In Jesus name, Amen

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
