Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 28

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 28

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading.  You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

https://heisourstrongtower.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/many-strands-challenge-seeking-gods-wisdom-for-2014/

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read 1 Timothy 1 – 3 and as you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

  • What is the main point of this portion?
  • What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?
  • What insight am I given into myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?
  • What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on today’s reading…

“This letter is from Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, appointed by the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus, who gives us hope. 2 I am writing to Timothy, my true son in the faith. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.” 1 Timothy 1:1-2

So many times in my life I have placed my hope in others and I have banked on their ability to be with me and to be whom I believed them to be.  I placed my hope and my expectations on them.  And many times I was disappointed.  Why?  Because I cannot place my hope in anyone on this earth; it is God my Savior and Jesus Christ who give me hope.  If my hope comes from them, then my hope needs to be in them.  My hope should be in no one else!

15 “This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:15-17

The only hope for sinners…Christ Jesus!

19 “Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.” 1 Timothy 1:19

The only hope to hold onto your faith…Christ Jesus!

5 “For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5

The only hope for humanities reconciliation to God…Christ Jesus!

“Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a human body     and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations.  He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16

Without question, the only hope for this world…Christ Jesus!

Dear Jesus, I choose You. And because I choose You, I choose hope. And because I choose hope, I will keep going even when I am tired and discouraged. You will strengthen me, encourage me, and give me hope and a future. I trust You. My Hope is in You! In Your name, amen.

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
