Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 8

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 8

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading. You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read Matthew 24 ~ 25 – As you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

• What is the main point of this portion?

• What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?

• What insight am I given into myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?

• What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on today’s reading…

That is the only way to make it into heaven is to BE STRONG IN THE LORD!

4″Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8 But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:4-14

Here in America we have not truly suffered for our religious beliefs. We may have come across some people who might look with disdain at us because we believe in God or we may know people who want to argue the point with us. But TRUE suffering we have never really encountered, at least not here in America.

That day is coming though and it just might be sooner rather than later. Are you ready to withstand the onslaught of persecution???

I know we need to be prepared!

In 2008, my son was working on receiving the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. There had been a number of weather related emergency situations in St. Louis over the months leading up to the start of his project, and he decided to do an Emergency Preparedness Project for our subdivision.

He did the work necessary to put together several seminars for our neighbors to help them prepare. He became an expert on this subject, because he did his homework. He had the information memorized and if you met him on the street, he could answer your questions with authority. He did not stumble or falter or tell you he would have to think about it…he knew what you needed and he stood firm on that truth.

One of the most important things we can do as Christians is to prepare for the days of persecution. We need to have the truths from the Bible memorized. We need to take authority over what we know to be true. For when that day comes, we cannot stumble or falter or say we need to think about it. We need to stand firm on God’s truth and not allow ourselves to be shaken.

Over the weekend, I had a thought and it is one that is not easily shaken. I am sharing it with you here so that you know how important it is going to be to be STRONG IN THE LORD.

The devil is going to be working hard during the end times, and he knows almost as much about us as God does. He is going to concentrate on our weakest link during that time. He is going to hit us where it will hurt the most and it will be the most difficult to stand firm.

I believe that the Lord has shown me where I am most vulnerable. That is what I am working on in my life right now. I am preparing myself to be strong in the Lord and not in myself. This is serious stuff! It is life and death! I will have to do what is right in the eyes of God, not what is right in the eyes of the people on this earth. My greatest testimony will come when I am standing firm under duress and persecution, because my hope is not in me, my hope is in the Lord and in His strength.

See what Billy Graham has to say on this subject too…

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
