Many Strands Challenge ~ Seeking God’s Wisdom for 2014 ~ Day 6

Seeking God's Wisdom - Day 6

Today’s Assignment ~ Make sure that you have your prayer journal with you as you complete each day’s reading.  You are going to want to keep track of the verses that are resonating with you, as you read.

1. If you have not already done so, answer the questions in this blog-post;

https://heisourstrongtower.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/many-strands-challenge-seeking-gods-wisdom-for-2014/

If you have answered them…review your answers prior to reading today’s assignment.

2. Say a prayer asking God to reveal Himself to you through His word.

3. Read Matthew 18 ~ 20 – As you read, highlight verses that are speaking to your heart and reflect on these questions…

  • What is the main point of this portion?
  • What does God – Father, Son or Holy Spirit – reveal of himself?
  • What insight am I given into myself and into my life situation? Is there an example of a warning to heed? A promise to claim?
  • What does Christ require of me now, in thought, word or action?

A reflection on today’s reading…

24 When the ten other disciples heard what James and John had asked, they were indignant. 25 But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. 26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:24-28

I couldn’t help but consider the elected officials in our country as I read the verses above.  I have always thought that the government was supposed to be for the people and frankly, all I see is politicians who are only for themselves and their own agendas.  I truly don’t see them considering what is best for me or for you in the decisions that they are making.

I am so glad that Jesus was for us from the very beginning; our eternal life was His agenda.  He did not consider what was best for Him; He was always concerned about what was best for me and for you.  Jesus came to earth to serve us and save us from our sins.

Jesus did not just die for our sins…He suffered and died for us!  He paid a high price for our sins; that is not something that Christians should take lightly.  It should color every decision that we make in our lives.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for making me Your priority.  You were for me before I was even born.  Even knowing the sins I would commit You died for me…before I was even born.  Help me to remember that You paid the ultimate price for my life, every moment of every day.  You died for me and I will live for You!  In Your name I pray, Amen.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
