I have been taking care of my grandchildren during the day since they got out of school on May 15th. We begin our day in prayer and yesterday morning my youngest grandson asked me a question, “Mae Mae, why do we have to pray every morning?” Since I was driving the car I was unable to see the eye rolls that, I know, accompanied the words he was speaking.
I pulled 1 Thessalonians 5:17 from my memory bank and told him that the Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing.”
I told them that it is very important to begin our time together in prayer. I want it to become a habit for them to begin each new day in prayer. I want them to become comfortable with talking to God on their own and to recognize the power of prayer within their family.
They are already seeing answers to some of their prayers!
This morning, I decided to go to 1 Thessalonians 5 and read the whole chapter during my quiet time. I am going to be sharing this with my grandchildren this morning before we pray. I know that God is working in their lives and that the lessons He is having me share with them are already taking root in their lives. I am looking forward to the day that going to God in prayer is a want-to in each of their lives…not a have-to!!!!
