Time for a Break!

We are going to be taking a bit of a break this week.  The only study that I will be posting to the Many Strands page is “Praying the Names of Jesus.”

The Praying the Names of Jesus study is going to be looking at Jesus as the “Bright Morning Star” and as we begin this Holy Week, I don’t think God could have chosen a better word to pray about.

“Lord, you are the brightest of all stars. With your light, chase away the world’s darkness and the shadows that linger in my life. Help me to await your coming with hope and confidence and to long eagerly for the new day that will never end, the day in which your kingdom will be finally and fully established.”

A little sample of what you will be reading tomorrow about Jesus as the Bright Morning Star.  Jesus did chase away the darkness and the shadows in the lives of those who love and fear Him.  He did it when He hung on the cross for you and for me.

I invite you to spend the time this week either reflecting on the daily posts for “Praying the Names of Jesus”, or you might want to get caught up on the Chronological New Testament Reading plan or maybe you just want to spend time praising and thanking God for allowing us a way out of our sin and death!

Everything we do on Many Strands is to point you to Jesus and this is the perfect week to take a bit of a pause and look to the cross.  Look to the cross and remember that we need to thank God every day for not stopping Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus shed His blood so that we could be washed as white as snow!

Dear Lord,

On this day of great rejoicing, Lord Jesus Christ, when we welcome You as our King and Savior, we also walk in the shadow of Your cross. “Hosanna!”, we cry. Blessed are You, Jesus, who came in God’s name to save us. Hosanna! Strengthen our faith on this Palm Sunday so that when the time comes to carry the cross we might still call out to You with heartfelt praise. Give us the grace and the courage to follow You this Holy Week from death to resurrection, from darkness to the fullness of light. We need You, Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. Hosanna! We praise Your Holy name, Amen!

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
