Hope was Born in a Manger

It’s been a while since I wrote on my blog.  It has been a busy, crazy December!!!  I wanted to share a wonderful moment that I had yesterday with my youngest grandson and God.  It clearly spoke to me about the true meaning of this season!!!

Hope was born in a manger…

Our church has been promoting the series that is coming to the History channel around Easter time called, “The Bible”.  Last evening during the Christmas Eve service at church they played a video of scenes from this movie, with Cee Lo Green singing “Mary Did You Know?”  I had already seen the video and so I was prepared for the flood of emotions that I would feel watching it…however, I was not prepared for the flood of emotions that my grandchildren would feel while watching it!

To say the floodgates opened would be an understatement.  My youngest grandchild…was actually saying, “No! Don’t do it!” during the scenes of the crucifixion, and then he turned to me with his baby blues overflowing and said, “Mae Mae, I love Jesus! It should have been us on that cross.”  I was not prepared for the emotion I felt from those words and wouldn’t you know it…no Kleenex.

I could not get his words off of my mind and when I got home last night and walked in my house, the first thing I saw was the wreath I got this month from the (In)courage website.

Hope begins here

The words on the wreath, “Hope Begins Here”, brought me a powerful moment with God, as I considered my grandson’s words during the church service.  By Jove, I think we both get it, now.  Joshua at the age of six and Mae Mae at the age of……oh, never mind!

What do we get???  We understand that our Hope was born in a manger and that the culmination of that Hope hung on the cross in our place.

Thank You Jesus for being our Hope and for allowing me to experience this truth as it came to fruition in the mind of this precious child!  Amen.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
