November 5, 2012 – Week 8 Assignments – My Kid Placement-Life

Read chapter 8 – My Kid-Placement Life

I feel very strongly that what I am learning through reading this book, and studying God’s word is that it all boils down to one thing…who I am thinking about in any given moment. When I place God first, and consider the feelings of others, before I think about myself…I have fewer unglued moments. But when I do not put God first and I am only thinking about myself and what others are thinking about me…I have more moments where my life feels out of balance and like I am literally coming apart at the seams.

This has brought me to the conclusion that instead of worrying about the place-mats in my life, I need to let God decide what the important moments in my life are. I need to move forward from chapter 8 using both of my words; my word for this year, “truth” and my word for 2013, “perspective.” I know I have mentioned to you all before that if I really want to walk in God’s truth, I need to live within His perspective. It never hurts to repeat wisdom from God, AND to remember, that even though I might feel something is true based on my feelings, I just might be looking at the situation from my limited understanding. God has His eyes on the bigger picture and He knows all that needs to happen to bring about His plans for my life and for the lives that intersect with mine. Walking in truth without His perspective is not truth…godly perspective is where I will find the truth that only comes from God!! I believe that is important information for me to remember from Chapter 8…what did God bring to you from Chapter 8? Or if you have not gotten to this chapter in the book yet, what is God showing you is important for you to learn from the chapter you are reading?

Assignments for Week 8….

Word for the Week – IMPORTANT

Define and look up synonyms for our word of the week – write this in your “unglued” journal.  Look at your “mandate to change” and decide how the word “IMPORTANT” will help you meet your objectives.  Write this information down in your journal.  Date each day of your journal this week.  Make a word circle using our word for the week and include in the circle those things that will help you meet your objective and place outside of the circle those things that will hinder your objective.

Memory Verse for this week –“For they are life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.  Keep your heart pure for out of it are the important things of life. Put false thinking away from you.  Put bad talk far from you.” Proverbs 4:22-24 (NLV)  I wanted to share all 3 verses with you, to keep them in context.  You only need to memorize verse 23…bonus points though if you memorize all three.

Look up the Memory Verse in several different translations of the Bible; decide which translation speaks to your heart and memorize that one.  Write this version in your journal and let the group know which one you picked.  Look at your “Mandate to Change” and see how this verse applies to helping your meet your objectives.  Make changes to your Mandate, as needed, including this verse.

Set aside 72 minutes every day this week to spend alone with God. Get out your “Unglued” journal and put the date at the top of the page.  Write out what you did during your time with God.  You do not have to commit to this 72 minutes all in one sitting…you can divide this time up throughout your day.  I do strongly urge you though, to spend at least 15 minutes at the start of your day with God. If you read a devotion write down which one you read, if you read your Bible…what chapters or verses did you read.  Make a note of what spoke to you during this time.  Make sure that you schedule in some quiet time, where you are just silent and listen for what God is saying to you.  Write down all the thoughts that come to you during this time of listening.

Examine WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR LIFE OVER THIS PAST WEEK for areas that caused you to become “unglued”.  You can do this by going back to your journal and re-reading your entries.

Record what you learned from each area in your journal.  Make note if this is a new “unglued” area in your life.

Surrender that unbalanced area to God and ask Him to show you how to abide in Him instead of relying upon yourself and your own strength.  Write out a prayer to God about those areas that you are surrendering to Him.

At the end of each day, reflect back on how your day went…be honest with yourself about those moments when you became “unglued.”  Did you realize right away that you were not allowing God to hold you all together or did it take a while?  What helped you in that moment?  Record this information in your journal and, if need be, write an amendment to your “mandate to change.”

Check out the daily posts to the Many Strands page to see if they will help you make some imperfect progress in your unglued moments.  There are three posted daily…one in the evening; our 52 Week Word study (“transformation” is the word for this week), and then 2 in the morning; Today’s Prayer and Moments with God.  Please be in prayer with me as I await the next challenge that God has planned for the Many Strands page, since we have finished the 90-day bible reading plan.

They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
