Walking in Obedience

God asked me to do something yesterday.

I did not want to do it!

Then, I decided I did want to do it!

The problem with both of my “wants”…neither were with the right mind-set or heart-set.

He had to do a work in me to get my heart and my mind where He wanted them to be and God won the moment!

The funny thing about this is…His reason for wanting me to obey Him and my reason for wanting to disobey Him…all came down to the same thing…my pride.  He wanted me humbled and, me…not so much!

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.  Proverbs 11:2

I want to walk in His wisdom, but that will not happen if I am resistant or, even disobedient to what He wants from me.  God does not want me to live in disgrace…He wants to me to live fully under His grace.  In order for that to happen…I have to be cheerfully obedient, and my heart and my mind need to be aligned with His heart and His wisdom.

I have to operate with a pure heart and a pure mind…I should never obey Him from out of my flesh (selfish reasons), but from the spirit that lives inside of me.

I took the first step and humbled myself in obedience to Him…what happens next, has nothing to do with me…it is all about Him and His work somewhere else.

I received confirmation today, of these words, in an email devotion from Anne Graham Lotz, and I just have to share it with you all…

Breaking the Silence

You have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit.    1 Peter 1:22, NKJV

Is God silent in your life?

Could it be that He has given you Truth to which you have not responded obediently?

Has He given you truth through a Bible study,

or your pastor’s sermon,

or your daily devotions,

or an inspirational book,

or a godly friend,

that you have yet to apply and obey? Have you been frustrated because the Bible doesn’t seem to make sense to you? And when you pray, is it as though your prayers hit the ceiling of your room and bounce back? Have you felt as though God has abandoned you? If so, you need to go back to the last thing you can remember that He told you and act on it. If you can’t remember, just return to the Cross by faith. In prayer, confess your sin of disobedience whether it was willful or not. Ask God to break His silence in your life.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
