Jesus Calling – August 21st

Jesus Calling for Kids – August 21st
I’ve Got Plans for You

Wait with Me for a while. There is so much that I want to tell you. I have great plans for you. I have all the details worked out. You are walking along the path I have chosen for you. Just follow Me, and I’ll show you what to do.

Sometimes you’ll feel that you aren’t good enough or brave enough to carry out My assignment. But you’re looking at your imperfections. I am looking at My Power – that makes you good enough and brave enough.

Sometimes My plan will call for you to stand out from the crowd. Don’t be afraid to be different; it doesn’t matter what other people think. Just stay on the path of Life with Me – trusting Me with all your heart.

1 Kings 8:23 (NLT) – and he prayed,

“O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven above or on the earth below. You keep your covenant and show unfailing love to all who walk before you in wholehearted devotion.

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Jesus Calling – August 21st

WAIT WITH ME FOR A WHILE. I have much to tell you. You are walking along the path I have chosen for you. It is both a privileged and perilous way: experiencing My glorious Presence and heralding that reality to others. Sometimes you feel presumptuous to be carrying out such an assignment.

Do not worry about what other people think of you. The work I am doing in you is hidden at first. But eventually blossoms will burst forth, and abundant fruit will be borne. Stay on the path of Life with Me. Trust Me wholeheartedly, letting My Spirit fill you with Joy and Peace.

My Reflections:
“…you’re looking at your imperfections. I am looking at My Power -“ Of all the words in these two devotions, these words spoke to me the strongest. Instead of focusing on what is wrong with me…I need to focus on His Power, His Strength, His Might, His Love! It is in my weakness that I make Him strong.

We need to remember that God does not lie. He has made promises to us and even though we do not understand His ways, His plans for us are better. We need to trust that He will do, for us, what He has said in the Bible. Write His words on our heart and believe in them from the center of our being. I am vowing to focus on the Power of the Lord…not on my imperfections.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
