Jesus Calling – August 19th

Jesus Calling for Kids – August 19th
I Am Calling You

I am constantly calling you – calling you to live close to Me.

I know how very much you need Me. I can read your thoughts, and I see how empty they are when they wander away from Me. Come to Me. I will give you rest for your soul, and I will refresh your mind and body.

As you learn to find your joy in Me, the joys of this world – video games, computers, and cell phones – seem less important. Knowing Me – truly knowing Me – is like having a fountain of Joy within you. This fountain flows from Me all the time, so My Joy can be with you even when you’re facing problems.

Spending time in My Presence keeps you connected to Me. While you wait with Me, I show you all that I have to offer. If you feel empty or distant from Me, simply bring your attention back to Me. This will keep you close to Me throughout the moments of your life.

Psalm 37:7 – Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.

Psalm 131:2 – Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Psalm 21:6 – You have endowed him with eternal blessings
and given him the joy of your presence.

Jesus Calling – August 19th

I CONTINUALLY CALL YOU to closeness with Me. I know the depth and breadth of your need for Me. I can read the emptiness of your thoughts when they wander away from Me. I offer rest for your soul as well as refreshment for your mind and body. As you increasingly find fulfillment in Me, other pleasures become less important. Know Me intimately is like having a private wellspring of Joy with in you. This spring flows freely from My throne of grace, so your Joy is independent of circumstances.

Waiting in My Presence keeps you connected to Me, aware of all that I offer you. If you feel any deficiency, you need to refocus your attention on Me.. This is how you trust Me in the moments of your life.

My Reflections:
Once again I am reminded that God will bring to us exactly the truth that we need to hear when we need to hear it. This is a truth that I know some of us need to hear today and I am including myself in that number. We do allow our lives to get too busy and we let other things come between God and the time we need to spend with Him.

The other day I did not read the readings from the Old Testament and New Testament because my day was just too busy. I had other things that I allowed to take priority over reading those verses…I felt guilty all day long!!! I felt like I was walking around with a great big “H” on my shirt…”HYPOCRITE!” I did not like that feeling and I did not like that I had not read the verses of the day in the 90 day reading plan. (Just so you know this was on Friday and yesterday I played catch-up).

Here is the situation as I see it…I will, if I allow myself, offer excuses and justifications for why it is just not convenient right now to do what I know I should be doing. Since the beginning of January, though, when we started the study of Made to Crave one of my “Mandates to Change” was no more excuses or justifications.

Now, at first, I though this was just about my eating habits…but I have since decided that God meant this for any area of my life. I could offer up to you right now all the reasons that on Friday, it was just not a good day for me to follow my Bible reading plan and you all might agree that I was justified. However, I don’t want you to excuse me or justify me…I want you to hold me accountable. I have to remain connected to Him and I have to be intentional with it. I don’t always want to, but I always need to, it is for His glory and my own good!

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
