Jesus Calling – August 15th

Jesus Calling for Kids – August 15th
The Position of Your Heart

I am the God of all times and of all that is. And I am waiting to hear from you – morning, noon and night.

Don’t just pray to Me in the quiet of the morning. Don’t just pray to Me at church or when things are going well. And don’t just pray to Me with your head bowed and your eyes closed. Talk to Me every day, at every day, at any time, in any place and situation – in class, on the soccer field, while practicing piano or doing homework or texting your friends. Pray when you’re in trouble and when you’re happy. Time with Me is what matters, not what time it is.
You can talk to Me lying down, sitting up, or with arms stretched up to heaven. Your eyes can be opened or closed. I don’t care about the position of your body – I care about the position of your heart. And when your heart is seeking Me, I will hear you.
Psalm 55:17 (NLT) – Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.

Psalm 32:6 – Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time,
that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.

 – O my people, trust in him at all times.  Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.

Jesus Calling – August 15th

I AM THE GOD OF ALL TIME and all that is. Seek Me not only in morning quietness but consistently throughout the day. Do not let unexpected problems distract you from My Presence. Instead, talk with Me about everything, and watch confidently to see what I will do.

Adversity need not interrupt your communion with Me. When things go “wrong” you tend to react as if you’re being punished. Instead of this negative response, try to view difficulties as blessings in disguise. Make Me your Refuge by pouring out your heart to Me, trusting Me at all times.

My Reflections:
WOW! What a strong statement I found inside of this devotion. “When things go “wrong” you tend to react as if you’re being punished.” This is so very true!!! I know that my first reaction to something going wrong, is that it is a punishment.

You know the feeling too, right? The big knot in the stomach, the “sigh” of why me, the mind that is searching for reasons why and that little voice in the back of the mind that is saying…”You deserve this. You are not worthy.”

It is not always easy to look at our difficulties as blessings in disguise, especially when we are right in the middle of the problem. We need to change our perspective of what “wrong” means. If we believe in God then nothing that happens to us is “wrong” because God is always “right.” WOW, another interesting thought from God! I am going to have to think about that one for a bit. So while I am thinking, let me leave you with this…If you are busy communicating with God throughout your day, you are going to find it really difficult to be sad, depressed, confused, angry or disillusioned. Stay close to Him and when you are not sure what to say…whisper His name. There is power in the name of Jesus!!!

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
