31 Days of Peace Journey Reflections

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. Jeremiah 29:11

31 Days of Peace…I am posting the last verse for this journey tonight for all of you to read tomorrow.  I have loved every minute of this challenge.  I have enjoyed looking for images that I felt best expressed the verse for the day.  This has been an awesome opportunity to really saturate myself in these verses about PEACE…and at times I have looked at these verses from a new perspective.  As we close this series down I want to look at these verses collectively and change the four questions to look at this series of scriptures as a whole.

1)    Do I truly desire to have peace?

I do desire to have peace in my life and I know that at those times when I am lacking peace it is because I am not seeking God in that moment.  I know that His peace is available to me and He provides an unlimited supply of peace to each of us.

2)    What am I focusing on more than the peace that is mentioned in these passages?

When I am not focusing on His peace…I am allowing a person or a problem come between me and the peace that I need from Him.  It is no one’s fault but mine when I am not intentional in seeking Him for the peace that I know only he can give.

3)    What did I learn about peace from these passages?

The most important thing I feel I gained from this journey is the very scriptures themselves.  This list of 31 verses is something that I am printing out and putting inside my prayer box for safe keeping and easy access for those times I am in need of peace.

4)    How can I apply these passages to my life today?

If I want peace in my life it is my job to seek His face and ask for the peace that I need.  These scriptures can be used as a map for what will bring peace to my life and what will remove peace from my life.  They are easily applied to my life today and how I need to conduct myself with others and with God.  As it has been written before…Know Jesus…Know Peace!

I hope some of you will share what you have gained from this challenge from S.W.A.P. Ministries.  Share your thoughts and feelings about this 31 Day Peace Journey AND get ready for our 52 word week challenge here on “Many Strands” that was inspired from this “Peace” series.  June 4th we will be posting the first word along with a verse, a song and some questions to help you better understand how to walk in that “word.”

Just in case you missed this 31 Day Challenge or you missed a day or two of the posted verse…I am sharing all 31 verses with you here.

May 1, 2012 – Numbers 6:24-26, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

May 2, 2012 – Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

May 3, 2012 – 1 Samuel 1:16-18 “Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.” Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”  She said, “May your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.”

May 4, 2012 – Mark 9:50, “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”

May 5, 2012 – Psalm 4:8, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

May 6, 2012 – John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

May 7, 2012 – Psalm 29:11, “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

May 8, 2012 – John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

May 9, 2012 – Psalm 34:14, “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”

May 10, 2012 – Romans 8:6, “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”

May 11, 2012 – Psalm 37:37, “Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.”

May 12, 2012 – Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

May 13, 2012 – Psalm 55:18, “He has redeemed my life in peace from the battle that was against me [so that none came near me], for they were many who strove with me.”

May 14, 2012 – Romans 14:16-19, “Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.   Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”

May 15, 2012 – Psalm 72:3, “The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the hills, through [the general establishment of] righteousness.”

May 16, 2012 – 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace —as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.”

May 17, 2012 – Psalm 85:7-10, “Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us our salvation.  I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—but let them not turn to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him that his glory may dwell in our land.  Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.”

May 18, 2012 – Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

May 19, 2012 – Psalm 119:165, “Great peace has those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”

May 20, 2012 – Ephesians 2:13-22, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.  For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.  Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.  In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.  And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

May 21, 2012 – Proverbs 16:7, “When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.”

May 22, 2012 – Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

May 23, 2012 – Isaiah 26:3-4, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.  Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”

May 24, 2012 – Colossians 1:20, “…and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

May 25, 2012 – Isaiah 32:17-18, “The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.  My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”

May 26, 2012 – Colossians 3:15, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

May 27, 2012 – Isaiah 54:10-13, “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.  “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli.  I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.  All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.”

May 28, 2012 – 2 Thessalonians 3:16, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

May 29, 2012 – Isaiah 57:18-21, “I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s mourners, creating praise on their lips.” Peace, peace, to those far and near,” says the Lord. “And I will heal them.”  But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud.  “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

May 30, 2012 – James 3:17-18, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
