I have been trying to come up with a name for the new group that will be studying “Trusting God” and so I went back and reread the introduction to the book.  Here is what I read that led me to an idea for a name for our group.  “Your life may be blessed with people you can trust—friends who really do have your best interests at heart and are there when you need them. Your life may also be littered with people you’ve trusted who have let you down. Perhaps you’ve got scars to remind you of people who’ve held your heart carelessly, walked away flippantly, or broken their word unapologetically. It has happened to all of us. And the hurt from a broken trust can make it difficult to count on people again.”

I have a feeling that we all have scars.  Scars that hold us back from trusting others and even from trusting God totally.  I thought that would be a great name for this new group and each one of the letters in the scars represents a different word.

The first “s” in scars stands for “sharing.”  When we read a devotion we are going to be sharing how that devotion made us feel or how we can apply that devotion to our own scars.  We are going to be sharing how those scars can or were removed by trusting in God.

“C” stands for “caring.”  As each of us shares our life stories we are going to need some loving, caring women to come along side of us and help us in our journey.

“A” stands for “airing.”  “Airing” what is bothering us is always a good thing.  It helps to breathe new life into you.  When you blow out the scars in your life it brings restoration and helps you with the next step in our journey.

“R” stands for “repairing.”  Only trust in God can repair what is broken or scarred inside each one of us.  The purpose for this study is to bring us into a closer walk with God and it is about us handing all of the hurt over to our Abba Father and allowing Him the job of repairing our souls.

The last “s” stands for “sisters.”  We are sisters in Christ and through this journey we are going to get to know each other very well.  It is important for us to have each other.  It is important to have fellow believing sisters to help us as we learn to trust Him more, to hold us accountable…to be the truth that we need to hear at all times.  To come along side of us and help us as we walk this journey to eternity.  I am ready to start removing those scars…how about you?

The group is open and if you want to be a part of the “Trusting God” study by the Girlfriend’s in God…leave me a comment so I can add you to the group.  You will need to buy the book and I will post a link to Family Christian Stores…the book is 1/2 price there through May 31st.

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
