Love Note to My Children

I am sitting here in the living room
thinking about the life that I have lived.
At the top of my list of happiest moments
I see you in the moving pictures of my mind.
No dark parts are visible because of the
type of love God gave me for you.
It is an unconditional, without reservations,
no matter how mad you can make me
kind of love.
It is a love that I want you to walk with
every day for the rest of your life.
It is a love that understands and feels
compassion for the imperfections of others.
It is a love that says,
“It’s okay, I’m not perfect either, and I love you,
no matter what.”
It is a love that knows someday the shoe
could be on the other foot.
It is a love that no one can steal from you
based on what stories they might tell.
It is a love that is not dependent on
how many chores you do, or hugs you give
or presents you might buy or how many
“I Love you’s” you might say.
This is a love that can not be bought in any store.
It does not have an expiration date,
it can even defy death!
It does not require anything of you!
It is there for you whenever you need it.
It the greatest gift that God has given to me
to pass on to you.
I paid nothing for it, it was freely given.
….And freely I pass it on.

  1. This is beautiful! I don’t have children, but I do have a niece that I have loved since the day she was born with a different love than I felt toward anybody else in my family. I love her unconditionally – always have, always will. My heart FILLS with love for her and I love her with a Mother’s love She has two daughters that are like grandchildren to me. I have watched them grow into beautful young women of 21 and 17. I would lay down my life for any of them, and do it gladly. I have prayed a time or two, that God would take one of their afflictions and give it to me. Your words described the love I feel for them….

Oaks Of Righteousness

Isaiah 61:1-3 "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lords's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display His glory.
