TGIFF – Thank God It’s Faithful Friday
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him, and he will set your paths straight.” Philippians 3:3-6 (NIV)
Yesterday, one of the women in my on-line prayer group experienced a personal Victory within her family. This happened because she was faithful and went to God in prayer asking and, believing, that she would receive her heart’s desire. In her post, she said this, “I’ve been praying alot & for yr.’s for my husband/children.” This is exactly what it means to be FAITHFUL…you have to ask to receive and then you have to believe it will happen, even if it takes years and there are no visible signs of the work God is doing behind the scenes.
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia has this to say in defining God’s faithfulness to His people. “God is true not only because He is really God in contrast to all that is not God, and because He realizes the idea of Godhead, but also because He is constant or faithful in keeping His promises, and therefore is worthy of trust.” Those who believe in God can rest in the assurance of His faithfulness because God has taught us He keeps His promises.
I watch a little 7 month old baby boy named Sylas. He started coming to my home when he was around 2 months old. We have developed a relationship and a routine. He knows that when he needs something I will be there, he has learned to trust in my promises to take care of him. Sylas now knows that I will faithfully take care of his needs, maybe not always the way that he wants…but always in a way that is in his best interests.
We are to be just like Sylas, trusting that God will be faithful in keeping his promises and he will meet all of our needs in the manner that, He considers, is best for us. Thank God It’s Faithful Friday and that we know we can count on our Heavenly Father to supply all that we need here on this earth. How has God shown his faithfulness to you this week and what have you done to show that you believe in His promises?
Thank you so much for stepping out in your faith, and reminding us of His faithfulness! 🙂
God has been so faithful in leading me forward, especially in the “A Confident Heart Study” that I’m doing — He’s bringing me MILES farther down my road of faith — farther than I ever dreamed we could go! But of course, the flip side of that is that life is full of many trials, and my family is falling on tougher times. It’s good, though, because so many blessings are coming our way because of being faithful with what He has given us. God provides! God answers prayers! He delights when we turn from our old selves and embrace the LIFE that He offers us! There is such peace in walking with Him, and I am eternally grateful.
Keep writing, Sister!
